Answer :

Carl Sandburg gives a true picture of City of Chicago and the people living there. He describes Chicago by listing that it is famous for. He highlights its commercial activities of the city.

There are four distinct activities of the City :

 1)    Hog Butcher :

The City of Chicago is a Hog Butcher. In 

other words, It is famous for Pig meat 

Production. It produces and supplies meat to 

other states of USA and the world.

 2)    Tool Maker  :

The City of Chicago is a Tool Maker. It is 

famous for tool Industry also. It manufactures

 all kinds of machines and metal tools. It 

 

supplies these tools to other states of USA.

3)    Wheat-Stacker :

The City of Chicago is also a Wheat-Stacker. 

Its grain merchants store Wheat and Supply it 

to other State of USA.

  4)    Freight Handler :

The City of Chicago is an important Railway 

Junction with a large network of Railway line.

 It handles the goods of the whole nation. Most

 of these goods are transported from one State

 to other State through this Commercial 

Centre.

5)    People :

The people of Chicago are healthy, strong and 

hard working. They work in dust and smoke.

 But they laugh heartily at the same time. 

They work like an ox of man still they keep on 

 smiling.
